The first horseman of the apocalypse - WIP 03 by SPartanen The first horseman of the apocalypse - WIP 03 by SPartanen
I'm requesting critiques even thou this is a work in progress. But feels I'm getting to a critical point where it could be good to hear opinions, ideas and warnings from a pair of fresh eyes...

Went really good during today's lunchbreak. first color, more details and some refining.

I'm getting a little bit tierd of this paint thou, kind of start drifting away from my initial idea, so I had to scrap some stuff and redo so I'll kind of continue on the right track...

Enjoy!

i really like where this is going but there are a few things i think you should change

i think you should make the horse more skeletal

the legs are a little wonky they dont look balenced with the head

is there supposed to be a gap between the skulls on the horse

the foot kinda dissappers is it supposed to do that

other than that its awesome!! and another thing i dont think that it quite meshes with the other horse men. and his arms i think you should make them a bit longer. this is a really great piece though.

personally, i think this is a great starting point.
may i make the suggestion that you take a look at the paintings of Napoleon Bonaparte? some of the paintings completed of him depicted him triumphant in battle.
this is usually accomplished by raising the right arm more, rearing the horse and broadening the shoulders of the person.
i think this image in particular will be helpful to you:

also, i think the colour palette is a little soft to portray conquest.
try more concentrated, deeper shades.

i'm really looking foreword to seeing how this turns out in the end :)

p.s. the skulls on the horse seem to become one with his armour, i don't know if this was intentional (i'm assuming it was and intentionally concept) but i really like how the bones of the fallen have become the means of his protection as well as a symbol of his history in conquest!

Conquest, war, famine and death... Conquest has also been called "Pestilence", particularly in pop culture

Oh cool, Conquest! Everybody forgets him; he's like the Pete Best of the four horsemen. You've done a pretty solid job of portraying him. :D

it works well enough as it is, although I can see the finished thing (if it ever becomes finished) being pretty cool. :D
