may i make the suggestion that you take a look at the paintings of Napoleon Bonaparte? some of the paintings completed of him depicted him triumphant in battle.
this is usually accomplished by raising the right arm more, rearing the horse and broadening the shoulders of the person.

also, i think the colour palette is a little soft to portray conquest.
try more concentrated, deeper shades.
i'm really looking foreword to seeing how this turns out in the end
p.s. the skulls on the horse seem to become one with his armour, i don't know if this was intentional (i'm assuming it was and intentionally concept) but i really like how the bones of the fallen have become the means of his protection as well as a symbol of his history in conquest!
i think you should make the horse more skeletal
the legs are a little wonky they dont look balenced with the head
is there supposed to be a gap between the skulls on the horse
the foot kinda dissappers is it supposed to do that
other than that its awesome!! and another thing i dont think that it quite meshes with the other horse men. and his arms i think you should make them a bit longer. this is a really great piece though.
